Packing for Italy can seem like a daunting task. There are so many items to remember when it comes to having a successful vacation. However daunting, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. After many trials and errors, here are the five essentials you need to pack for a trip to Italy.
- Sunscreen
When in Italy, you will likely be participating in a lot of outdoor activities. As such, I strongly suggest packing sunscreen for your trip to Italy. Last summer I made the grave mistake of forgetting sunscreen on my trip to Italy. After a search around the town, I fortunately found a bottle of sunscreen, but it was double the price as it would have been back home. Furthermore, packing sunscreen will ensure that your skin is glowy and ready to take on the rest of your trip.
- Travel Adapter
Packing a travel adapter seems like a no-brainer once I say it, but it may not come to mind when you are first thinking about what to bring on your trip to Italy. If you are planning on packing any electronics that need charging, such as your phone, laptop, headphones, etc. then you will be needing to use an outlet while you are on your trip. Bringing a travel adapter will ensure that you are able to use the outlets that are found across Italy, as the outlets have different shaped plug-ins.
- Lightweight Fabrics
If your trip to Italy is in the warmer months of the year, I strongly suggest packing lightweight fabrics. As I previously mentioned, you will likely be participating in a lot of outdoor activities. This means that you will be exposed to the warm, Italian sun for long periods of time. By packing lightweight materials, such as linens, cottons, etc., you will be keeping yourself as cool as possible. Additionally, as these fabrics tend to take up less room, you will have more space in your suitcase to pack everything you want to take!
- A Small Backpack
Packing a small backpack, fanny pack, belt-bag, etc. is a MUST for Italy. When walking outdoors and exploring the beautiful Italian scenery, the last thing you want to do is haul around a big purse. Just because you might not be able to pack your favorite purse does not mean you can’t still be stylish. There are many different bags to choose from, some of my favorite being the Fjallraven Kanken bags and the Carhartt bags. Best of all, both brands carry something for both men and women!
- Comfortable Shoes
With all of the walking you will be doing, packing comfortable shoes on your trip to Italy will be game changers. You want to be able to enjoy long days on your feet. I recommend packing a pair of comfortable sneakers, as well as some nice-fitting sandals. Your stilettos and high heels might be calling your name right now, but I promise you, you will be thanking me later.
I hope this post was helpful for those of you who will be traveling to Italy.
